How does MPLS work?
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) operates by tagging the traffic with an identifier that helps divert the traffic to different paths. This way the speed of the traffic movement is increased and efficient transfer of data takes place. Routers just send the data/information from one network to another. It is the Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology that directs it to follow a path.
MPLS – Ingress/Egress routers
Ingress routers work at the edge of the MPLS technology. They classify each data packet potentially using a range of attributes. The MPLS network use only the LSP labels to forward the data packets to the egress routers.
